Elie Eid, a Sydney parent, has organized a spectacular Celebrity Charity Poker Event (PLAY FOR A CURE) in conjunction with the Australian Poker League and Children's Hospital Westmead. The tournament will be held at Revesby Workers Club on Thursday 24th April 2008 Go to www.playapl.com click onto the charity icon for the latest information. The night is sponsored by Microsoft- X BOX. Today FM has donated $20 000 of advertising to the event (Celebrity Poker Tournament) which is constantly playing through out the day and also posted on their Web Site.
Mario Fenech will be there on the night and hopefully the Footy Show will do a little segment of the event as there are a number of Rugby league players coming from different teams to support the cause. Some of the celebrities participating include: Anthony Mundine, Mario Fenech, Sonny Bill Williams, Matt Utai, Nathan Cayless,Lance Thompson,Nathan Merit, John Sutton, Mark Riddel, Daniel Wagon, Darren Senter, Shane Walker, Isaac Luke, Glenn Stewart, Cameron Phelps, Jarrod Hickey, Heka Nanai, Mark Coyne and Brad Mckay.
Elie would like to extend an invitation for 2 people from every family affected by Duchenne to play in the tournament and hopefully win some great prizes, but mainly to be there as a whole to help raise awareness and support the cause.
