 “Life”

Linocut Print 600 X 900 mm

by Kevin Edmondstone

This magnificent impresson of the story of Duchenne by indigenous artist, Kevin Edmondstone, is a limited edition linocut and watercolour print. Only 30 prints will be produced, signed and numbered by Kevin's hands. Kevin has handpainted each feather and applied watercolour in his own unique style. It would make a fitting centrepiece for any institution or private home with a connection to Duchenne. Kevin's uplifting choice of the "Bustard" (Plain Turkey) of Northern Australia, is based upon his knowledge of the shared parenting role for their single off-spring.

About “Life”

The two birds (Plain Turkey) and unhatched chick represent a father and a mother with their unborn child who is affected by disease (DMD), marked by the snake. The people shapes and the footprints represent different races of people and their journey through life - living with the disease, which is affecting each one of them. The sun represents hope for these people and its rays illustrates the DNA molecules, used to strive for a cure for life.

All proceeds, except those costs incurred by the artist for his materials, will be used for Australian B/DMD research. We are indebted to Kevin for this wonderful gift and for retelling of the story of Duchenne by melding traditional aboriginal symbolism with his own unique style.

"Life" will be shipped in a large roll for best results when mounting and framing. Shipping costs will vary according to the destination. Please email  for a shipping quote, supplying full postal address.
